When a baseline in Primavera P6 with 8 Hrs/Day Calendar was changed Calendar to 10 Hrs/Day, the original duration has changed. How to recover the original duration to be same as before.
The best way is to use excel, also bring back the both the Original Duration and Lag Duration to their original values in Primavera P6.
– Export the O.D. values to Excel.
– Export the Lag values to Excel.
– Replace the old calendars with the new ones.
– Import the Excel file back into P6.
The Global change fomula below in Primavera P6 can only change the Original Duration, There’s no way to call the lag values in the Global change function. You can only use the steps below if you do not have lag values yet in the schedule that you are preparing.
First create a User Defined Field in Primavera P6. Go to top Menu, Click Enterprise, and Use Defined Fields..
After creating User Defined Field Number Type. Go to global change and create a formula that will copy the current values of Original Duration to User Defined Field (Number01). Since OD is 8h/d use the divide by 8 parameter so that the value that will be encoded by P6 in Number01 will be equal to the values in Original Duration column. If it is not divided by 8 the number that will appear is the unit-hrs. so it is very important to put /8 in the parameter.
This is the result after committing the global change in Primavera P6.
Change the calendar.. to a calendar using a 10hr/day. Now the Original Duration shortened.
To bring back the original values in Original Duration prior to the 10hr/day change of calendar. Go to global change again and then mutiply the values in Number01 column by 10. Now you will get the original values of the Original Duration same as before when using the 8h/d calendar.
Now you will get the original values of the Original Duration in Primavera P6 same as before when using the 8h/d calendar.
Important thing here is you just have first to store the O.D. in UserDefined Field in Primavera P6, then when you change to any calendar you have to multiply it based on the hrs/day of that calendar (x12 if 12h/day or x6 if 6h/day calendar) so that you can get back the original values for the Original Duration.
