Automatically change color of a cell in excel by using conditional formatting. In this example we will change the color at E4 (Bill) by using the value at F5.
Click the Home button, and find the Conditional Formatting icon, then click New Rule. At the New Formatting Rule dialog window, you have three things to do.
1. Choose the Use Formula for determin which cells to format.
2. You have to enter the formula at the formula bar. and 3.
3. Click format button to be able to select the fill and font color for the cell to be formatted.
To edit the formula, go back to conditional formatting and click manage rules. For example you can change the formula so that the value in F5 affects the color of F5 itself, instead of E4.
Paint the conditional format to other cells
You can also apply this rule that automatically change color of cell in excel to other cells by selecting the formatted cell and then right clicking the mouse, then choose the format-painter icon and paint its format to the other cells.
