The idea is to make a set which we can use in a filter to see the whole path of a particular activity in Primavera P6. Make a user defined fields – text data type, then type T if an activity is part of the sucessors set. Then you have put T to all members of that set, you can filter that user defined column. Now, how to find the members of the T-set?
This procedure in finding the members of the T-set in Primavera P6 project is – “going one by one manualy using the :”Go-To Button” in the activity details window – predecessors tab. Then just typing T at that added user defined column that can be filtered later to see the whole path of a particular activity.
Make a copy of the project. In that copy delete all the activities which with finish dates later than that particular activity. Now we just made that activity as the last activity in the schedule, Now, you can filter the critical path going to that activity, that way you can have that network which is your T-Set which you can fill-down the letter T in the userdefined field. You can now export this in excel, you just have to modify the excel import to include the userdefined field which contains those T’s.
Then import xls to the original project to Primavera P6 and the userdefined field in that project will be updatedly filled-up. Now that you have the T-set you can now create the filter to see the whole path of a particular activity using the T-set. Just make sure that in your original schedule in Primavera P6 you must have a userdefined field same name and type the one which you modified.
